Tile Repairs Ballarat

Cracked, chipped, loose and drummy tiles repaired across Ballarat, so one damaged tile stays a small job instead of a new floor.

Fix the Tile, Keep the Room

Most damaged tiling does not need a full re-tile. A cracked floor tile, a few loose wall tiles beside the vanity or a patch that sounds hollow underfoot can usually be cut out and replaced on its own. We repair tiled floors and walls in homes and businesses across Ballarat, then regrout and seal around the new tiles with Mapei.

We travel to Ballarat for this work. Travel is built into the quote and there is no call-out fee. If there is more to do while we are there, such as a second bathroom or a shower that needs regrouting, mention it when you get in touch and we will quote it all as one trip.

A Cracked Tile Lets Water In

Damage rarely stays in one tile. Once a tile cracks or lifts, water finds its way underneath, softens the bed the tile sits on and starts working on the tiles beside it. In a shower, laundry or ensuite that moisture can reach the wall or floor behind. Replacing one tile early is a straightforward repair. Leaving it tends to turn it into several.

Repairs in Older Ballarat Homes

Ballarat has a lot of older housing, and repairing old tiling takes more care than working on a new build. Tiles may sit on cement render with no modern waterproofing behind them, or on patches someone else has already had a go at. Lifting one tile can show you what the whole wall is sitting on.

We check the surface under every damaged tile before the new one goes in. If what we find changes the job, we explain it and confirm the price with you in writing before carrying on. We would rather tell you than tile over it.

FAQs

Tile Repair Questions

Can you replace just one cracked tile?

Yes. A single cracked or chipped tile can usually be cut out and replaced on its own without touching the rest of the floor or wall. Once the new tile is set, we regrout and seal around it.

What if my tiles are no longer made?

That is common with older tiling. We source a matching tile where one is available, and where it is not, we work through the closest options with you. If you have spare tiles left over from when the room was done, keep them aside, because an original spare is always the best match.

Why do tiles come loose?

Usually water. When grout cracks or wears through, water gets behind the tiles and weakens the bond holding them to the wall or floor. That is why we renew the grout around a repair, not just the tile.

Is it worth repairing, or do I need a re-tile?

If the damage is limited to a handful of tiles, a repair keeps the rest of the room as it is. If most of the tiles in a room are cracked or drummy, repairing them one by one stops making sense, and we will tell you that when we see it.

Do you charge extra to come to Ballarat?

No. Ballarat is part of our service area. Travel is built into the quote, there is no call-out fee, and you get the price in writing before any work starts.

Do you repair outdoor tiles?

Yes. Cracked or lifting tiles on patios, steps and other outdoor areas are repaired the same way as indoor tiles. If the grout between your outdoor tiles has failed as well, we can regrout the area in the same visit.
